About Gourmet Food Center

Located at 15724 W Seven Mile Rd, Detroit, MI 48235, Gourmet Food Center operates as a specialty food store serving Detroit in Michigan. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 9 am–3 pm. Note that it does not open on Wednesday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (313) 838-9588. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, chitterlingcleaners.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 134 reviews, which is a strong result for a specialty food store in Detroit and suggests consistent service.

Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Detroit follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This made my holiday! Chitlins are my favorite food but I don’t have often because I don’t feel like cleaning AND the overall availability plus price increases have made it hard. This year my mom surprised us by purchasing 50lbs of these pre cleaned chitlins which made it so much easier. She was able to quickly go through them and like many said it was well worth it not to sort through the filth you usually deal with. I’d be happy to purchase again.

Let me tell you growing up I use to smell chitterlings and it wasn't till I was grown and found out what and why they smelled. But they where good. So only one time I said I will cook me some , but had to clean them , and look like I saw something in every piece and just threw it all away then I saw this company last year they came frozen and I gave them to my friend who is a chef and know bout chitterlings and said they where the cleanest she ever saw and she cooked them for me. And the price is worth every penny then standing on your feet for 3 hours and nothing left. I say save the amount of money once a year is worth it. Just put aside 10.00 a month and you got your good clean chitterlings!!!

This is like my third time ordering and I will continue for the convenience. The cleanest chitterlings each and every-time. I always go over the chitterlings and I have less than a cup of gunk. I got 30 lbs on this go round and spoke to Mr Tucker and he is so nice and pleasant on the phone. There is a reason this business has been around for many years!

The chitterlings were delivered on time. They arrived frozen and cleaned. After I thawed them out I went through them twice to check for any debris. I must say they were extremely clean! They were fresh too! The price may be perceived as somewhat steep by certain individuals, yet for others, it's merely the cost associated with loving chitterlings. I’m part of the second group. With GFC, you get 10 lbs. of cleaned chitterlings and you don’t throw away 1/2 the product, nor do you spend hours cleaning them. Well worth it!
